  • Checking with CrossRef
    You can paste your complete reference list into the search box on CrossRef’s Simple Text Query page to obtain the DOIs and check that your references are valid. To check the accuracy of a reference, click on the DOI link that comes up. Your reference list should be alphabetical or sequential, but the style is not important.

  • Tip for accurate journal references
    Typing errors often render references inaccurate. For accurate references to biomedical journals, check the reference in PubMed’s Single Citation Matcher or Batch Citation Matcher and copy the PubMed citation into your document.
