Abstract
In common with other Christian communities the Anglican Church in Wales is currently revising forms of service, for funerals as for other pastoral occasions. This paper examines some of the doctrinal, historical, liturgical and pastoral issues which arise and indicates both parallels and contrasts with similar revision in the Church of England. It draws particular attention to difficulties concerning the personalization of funerals, language of commendation and committal, and the disposal of cremated remains.
