Abstract

The concept of school phobia is questionable and a more appropriate term of 'acute school-induced anxiety' is proposed. The existing research into this phenomenon can be shown to be both unscientific and based on unsound assumptions. The outcomes of current approaches based on this material are mostly negative with high levels of mental illness development and persisting into adulthood. In contrast, a sample of 100 'school-phobic' children educated at home shows much more encouraging results.
