Abstract

In the paper we show that if the quasi-convex function ./GSTA_A_8801122_O_XML_IMAGES/GSTA_A_8801122_O_ILM0001.gif  defined on an open convex set satisfies some mild restrictions then ./GSTA_A_8801122_O_XML_IMAGES/GSTA_A_8801122_O_ILM0002.gif  is a convex function on a convex compact subset if only C is larg e enough. We investigate specidly the casa when ./GSTA_A_8801122_O_XML_IMAGES/GSTA_A_8801122_O_ILM0003.gif  separable, i.e. when ./GSTA_A_8801122_O_XML_IMAGES/GSTA_A_8801122_O_ILM0004.gif . Our results make possible the application of the methods of FIACCO and MCCORMICK in non-linear programming problems, where the constraints are quasi-convex.
