Aims & Scope
Archives of Suicide Research, the official journal of the International Academy of Suicide Research (IASR), is the international journal in the field of suicidology. The journal features original, refereed contributions on the study of suicide, suicidal behavior, its causes and effects, and techniques for prevention. The journal incorporates research-based and theoretical articles contributed by a diverse range of authors interested in investigating the biological, pharmacological, psychiatric, psychological, and sociological aspects of suicide. The editors of ASR are mindful of the dichotomy between general (quantitative/nomothetic) methods of research and practice and approaches that utilize specific case studies (qualitative/idiographic). While eagerly accepting work from suicidologists situated on both sides of this division, the editors ultimately wish to cultivate a forum that attempts to reconcile and merge these oppositional modes. It is their belief that, by amalgamating the general and the specific, the field of suicidology will become a more scientific discipline - a discipline that encourages the open exchange of knowledge and techniques. And it is the mission of ASR to be the primary conduit through which the results of such exchanges will be enthusiastically disseminated. Features of the journal include: - Book Reviews
