Instructions for Authors

European Planning Studies welcomes submissions via ScholarOneTM Manuscripts site: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ceps. Please read further details below.

All submissions should be made online at the European Planning Studies ScholarOneTM Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre.

Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript. One should be a complete text, while in the second all document information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to referees. When uploading files authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as “File not for review”.

Manuscripts should be double spaced, with ample margins, and bear the title of the contribution and name(s) of the author(s). The full postal address of the author who will check proofs and receive correspondence and offprints should also be included. All pages should be numbered. Contributions should not normally be more than 9000 words in length and should be written in the English language. They should also include an abstract of 200 words. Footnotes to the text should be avoided wherever this is reasonably possible.

The Journal also carries a European Briefing and a Research Briefing section. Contributions to these sections should not normally exceed 2000 words. Please submit articles for this section of the journal to the European Planning Studies ScholarOneTM site.

Books for review
should sent to: The Book Review Editor, Guy Baeten, Department of Geography, University of Strathclyde, 50 Richmond Street, Glasgow G1 1XN

Tables and captions to illustrations. Tables must be typed out on separate pages and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate page. Tables and figures should be numbered by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.

Figures. Artwork must be submitted in suitable condition for publication.

Tables and figures should not be inserted in the text but uploaded as a separate file. Refer to all tables as Tables, which should be numbered consecutively. Refer to all other illustrations (maps, charts, diagrams, photographs, etc.) as Figures, also numbered consecutively. Tables and figures should include short, informative captions; all captions should be gathered onto a separate sheet at the end of the manuscript.

References. These should be indicated in the typescript by giving the author's name and the year of publication, as follows: Weaver (1978) or (Weaver, 1978). If several papers by the same author and from the same year are cited, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication. The references should be listed in full at the end of the paper in the following standard form:
