Aims & Scope. Transport Theory and Statistical Physics is devoted to the rapid communication of new results from fundamental studies in the title fields. The models of transport phenomena of interest are those based at least partially upon microscopic (i.e., phase-space) considerations, although work that seeks to establish connections between such models and traditionalmacroscopic (i.e., continuum)models of transport phenomena are eminently appropriate. Articles featuring analytic and/or numerical methods are sought and published. Occasional review articles, especially those bridging various specialty areas (e.g., neutral-particle transport, chargedparticle transport, and radiative transfer) are also published. Intending authors should consult the editor.
Submission of Manuscripts. All manuscripts should be mailed or submitted electronically to the Editor-in-Chief: Dr. John J. Dorning, University of Virginia, Thornton Hall, P.O. Box 400238, Charlottesville, VA 22904-4238; E-mail: ttspj@virginia.edu. Only original papers will be considered. Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that the same work has not been published, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that its submission for publication has been approved by all of the authors and by the institution where the work was performed.
Preparation of Manuscripts. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. The disk should be prepared using MSWord orWordPerfect and should be clearly labeled with the authors' names, file name, and software program. A hardcopy printout that exactly matches the disk must be supplied. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher. All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. The title page must include the title, authors' names and addresses, and the phone and fax numbers and e-mail address of the corresponding author. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces, an abstract of not more than 100 words, as well as a list of three to six key (indexing) terms. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and references to the text in the abstract.
Acknowledgments. Acknowledgments should be gathered into a brief statement at the end of the text. All sources of financial sponsorship are to be acknowledged, including the names of private and public sector sponsors. This includes government grants, corporate funding, trade associations and contracts.
References. References should be cited in text by author and date (Smith and Jones, 1983). Multiple references within one set of parentheses should be set off by a semi-colon. Examples:
Journal: Kanal, M., Davies, J. A. (1981). A spectral representation of the linear transport problem. TTSP 10(1-2):29-51.
Book: Muskhelishvili, N. I. (1953). Singular Integral Equations. Groningen: P. Noordhoof.
Chapter in Book: Lachowicz, M. (1995). Asymptotic analysis of nonlinear kinetic equations: the hydrodynamic limit. In: Bellomo, N., ed. Lecture Notes on the Mathematical Theory of the Boltzmann Equation. Singapore: World Science, pp. 65-148.
Electronic Publications: Please include the URL and date last accessed in the citation.
Tables and Figures. Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labelled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated.
Illustrations. Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, etc.) should be digital files or clean originals. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
-
300 dpi or higher
-
sized to fit on journal page
-
EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
Color Reproduction. Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in color art reproduction. Color art can be purchased for online only conversion and reproduction or for print + online reproduction. Color reprints can only be ordered if print + online reproduction costs are paid. Rates for color art reproduction are:
Online Only Reproduction: $225 for the first page of color; $100 per page for each of the next three pages of color. A maximum charge of $525 applies.
Print + Online Reproduction: $900 for the first page of color; $450 per page for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than 4 pages of color.
Proofs. Page proofs will be sent to the designated corresponding author using the electronic Taylor & Francis CATS system. They should be checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt.
Reprints. The corresponding author of each article will receive one copy of the issue in which the article appears. Reprints of an individual article are available at the time authors review page proofs. A discount is available to authors who order before print publication.
