Instructions for Authors

iOpenAccess logoAims and Scope

This review journal provides the most current information on basic and translational research in immunology and related fields. In addition to reviews written by invited authors on a given topic, the journal accepts for publication articles and editorials on relevant topics proposed by contributors. The contributors interested to submit reviews, editorials or guest edit issues on specific topics are encouraged to contact the editorial office, editorial team members or the Editor-in-Chief in advance. Each issue of International Reviews of Immunology contains 4-8 solicited and unsolicited review articles, editorials and 'In-this-Issue' highlights. We will also host Reviews that position the authors' original work relative to advances in a given field, filling the gap which presently exists between annual reviews and the original research articles.

This review series is relevant to all immunologists, molecular biologists, microbiologists, translational scientists, industry researchers and physicians who are involved with basic and clinical immunology, inflammatory and allergic diseases, vaccines and additional topics relevant to medical research and drug development that connect immunology to disciplines such as oncology, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.

The journal will have three tracks:

1) Basic and developmental immunology (innate and adaptive immunity, inflammation, tumor and microbial immunology);

2) Clinical research (mechanisms of disease in man pertaining to infectious diseases, autoimmunity, allergy, oncology / immunology);

3) Translational research (relevant to biomarkers, diagnostics, vaccines and drug development).

The editors' intent is that this journal provide the most recent and relevant information, hence the submissions are being reviewed by members of the editorial team and / or experts in the field; yet the turnaround time is short, in order to insure that the reviews contain the latest data. An international board of editors makes sure that the material presented is as broad as possible, both in terms of the geographic distribution of contributors and the range of interests represented.

Submission of Manuscripts

All manuscripts should submitted online via the journal's Manuscript Central system -http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/giri. Only original papers will be considered. Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that the same work has not been published, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that its submission for publication has been approved by all of the authors and by the institution where the work was performed and that any person cited as a source of personal communications has approved such citation.  The manuscripts may contain original data generated by the authors or other scientific information with appropriately documented permission as necessary. The manuscript should be prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect, with all figures and tables uploaded as separate files. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.

Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of no more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text within the abstract.
Declaration of interest

It is the policy of all Informa Healthcare, to adhere in principle to the Conflict of Interest policy recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). (http://www.icmje.org/index.html#conflict)

All authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. It is the sole responsibility of authors to disclose any affiliation with any organization with a financial interest, direct or indirect, in the subject matter or materials discussed in the manuscript (such as consultancies, employment, paid expert testimony, honoraria, speakers bureaus, retainers, stock options or ownership, patents or patent applications or travel grants) that may affect the conduct or reporting of the work submitted. All sources of funding for research are to be explicitly stated. If uncertain as to what might be considered a potential conflict of interest, authors should err on the side of full disclosure.

All submissions to the journal must include full disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest. If there are no conflicts of interest, authors should state that there are none. This must be stated at the point of submission (within the manuscript after the main text under a subheading "Declaration of interest" and where available within the appropriate field on the journal's Manuscript Central site). This may be made available to reviewers and will appear in the published article at the discretion of the Editors or Publisher.

If no conflict is declared, the following statement will be attached to all articles:

Declaration of interest: The authors report no conflicts of interest. The authors alone are responsible for the content and writing of the paper.

The intent of this policy is not to prevent authors with these relationships from publishing work, but rather to adopt transparency such that readers can make objective judgments on conclusions drawn.
