Submission of Manuscripts
Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts by e-mail attachment only to Mr. Brian A. Day (
info@aeec.org), Microsoft Word preferred). All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become property of the publisher. Submission of a manuscript to the journal is understood to imply that it or substantial parts of it have not been published or accepted for publication elsewhere and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Preparation of Research Article and Field Report Manuscripts
Style Manuscripts, including tables, figures, and references, should be prepared in accordance with the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed. or newer) with the following exception: book, periodical, and other titles in the reference list should be italic type, not underlined. A Microsoft Word template and user instructions are available for download at the journal's Web site (
http://www.aeec.org) or by contacting the editor (
info@aeec.org). If the template is not used, please double-space text and number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper.
Length
Research articles and field reports are limited to 3,500 words. Please note that the word count applies only to the main body of the manuscript and the notes. The abstract, references, and text contained in tables/figures are not counted when determining length.
Abstract
Authors should also supply an abstract of not more than 100 words that states concisely the goals, methods, principal results, and conclusions of the paper. Acronyms are not permitted in the abstract.
Keywords
Please include several relevant keywords to help identify the article for abstracting and indexing services.
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text but should be included in seperate files (preferred) or separate sheets at the end of a text file. A descriptive title (Table 1, Figure 1, etc.) and short caption should be included above each table/figure. Indicate approximate location where tables/figures should be placed in text by typing on a separate line “<Insert Table 1, 2, etc. here>.” Tables should include a clear legend and visible numeric units. Footnotes must be suitably identified below. Please ensure that size reduction of tables and figures will not make them illegible.
Illustrations
Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- Sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, TIFF, PSD format only
- Submit as separate files, not embedded in text files
- Include photo/art credits when applicable
Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in color art reproduction. Color art can be purchased for online only reproduction or for print + online reproduction. Color reprints can only be ordered if print + online reproduction costs are paid. Rates for color art reproduction are: Online Only Reproduction: $225 for the first page of color; $100 per page for the next three pages of color. A maximum charge of $525 applies. Print + Online Reproduction: $900 for the first page of color; $450 per page for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than four pages of color. Permission to Reprint
It is the author's responsibility to obtain permission to reprint any previously published figure, table, or quotation of more than 500 words. A signed letter from a publisher's representative (include title/position and contact information) that lists specific details about what is to be reprinted should be submitted to the managing editor of AEEC. Authors should also seek permission to reprint original illustrations from the photographer, artist, etc. Proofs, Complimentary Copies, and Reprints One set of page proofs is sent to the corresponding author.
