Submission of Manuscripts
Three copies of each manuscript and return postage should be sent to: R.T. Segraves, MD, MHMC-Psychiatry, 2500 MetroHealth Drive, Cleveland, OH 44109-1998. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. The disk should be prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect and should be clearly labeled with the authors' names, file name, and software program. A hardcopy printout that exactly matches the disk must be supplied. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of no more that 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text.
We strongly encourage you to send the final, revised version of your article electronically, by email, to Dr. R.T. Segraves at
rsegraves@metrohealth.org. This will ensure that it can be dealt with quickly and will reduce errors at the typesetting stage. This guide sets out the procedures which will allow us to process your article efficiently.
Please note: This guide does not apply to authors who are submitting an article for consideration and peer review; it applies only to authors whose articles have been reviewed, revised, and accepted for publication.
- You should save the files as Word documents, although figures can also be supplied as eps, tif, pdf, or word files (see below).
- Tables and figures should be saved as separate files, and a separate list of figure captions should also be provided. Give the files clear names such as Smith_text.doc, Smith_tables.doc, Smith_figures.doc, Smith_figurecaptions.doc.
- The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the text file, and they must be mentioned in the text.
- Ensure that the files are not saved as read only.
- Please see the journal Instructions for Authors page for information on how to style your article correctly. Please pay particular attention to the references.
- Authors who wish to prepare their article using the LaTeX document preparation system are advised to download the relevant LaTeX style guide and Class file via the Instructions for Authors link on the journal's homepage.
- Please make sure that the full postal and email address of the author who will check proofs and receive correspondence and reprints is clearly marked.
