Instructions for Authors

Aims and Scope. The International Journal of Strategic Communication (IJSC) aims at fostering understanding of the processes, prospects, and challenges of communication for organizations in a changing global society. Submissions can address problems grounded in any organizational or communication discipline, but should have clear theoretical implications for how the organization functions or responds to the environment in which it operates. Articles should be solidly grounded conceptually and should extend understanding of organization or communications theory. The Journal places a premium on provocative and insightful ideas from around the world, not merely research that replicates or extends mainline research to new situations or locales. Case studies and other research centered in a particular nation or area of the world are invited, but should address implications for other organizations, including (but not limited to) organizations that operate across nations or regions.

Submission of Manuscripts. The International Journal of Strategic Communication receives all manuscript submissions electronically via their ScholarOne Manuscripts website located at: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/HSTC. ScholarOne Manuscripts allows for rapid submission of original and revised manuscripts, as well as facilitating the review process and internal communication between authors, editors and reviewers via a web-based platform. For ScholarOne Manuscripts technical support, you may contact them by e-mail or phone support via http://scholarone.com/services/support/. If you have any other requests please contact the journal at jnlstrategiccom@okstate.edu.

Illustrations. Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:

  • 300 dpi or higher
  • sized to fit on journal page
  • EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
  • submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Color Reproduction. Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in color art reproduction. Color art can be purchased for online only conversion and reproduction or for print + online reproduction. Color reprints can only be ordered if print + online reproduction costs are paid. Rates for color art reproduction are: Online Only Reproduction: $225 for the first page of color; $100 per page for the next three pages of color. A maximum charge of $525 applies. Print + Online Reproduction: $900 for the first page of color; $450 per page for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than 4 pages of color.

Tables and Figures. Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should appear collectively at the end of the manuscript. They can also be included as separate files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All hard copy original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated.

References and Notes. All references and notes must conform to APA style. Please consult the journal web site for further information.

Proofs and Reprints. Page proofs are sent to the designated author using Taylor & Francis' Central Article Tracking System (CATS). They must be carefully checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Reprints of individual articles are available for order at the time authors review page proofs. A discount on reprints is available to authors who order before print publication.
