General Style
Contributions suitable for Textile Progress should provide a critical and comprehensive examination of the subject matter. For most topics, a manuscript should cover the last five to ten years, using earlier relevant volumes of Textile Progress as a starting point. For more specialized or newer material that has not been covered previously in Textile Progress, it may be useful to take an earlier starting point.
Contributions should be written in such a way that they allow the non-specialist to understand the principles and applications of the topic. Articles should be broadly based and practically oriented. The appropriate style is that of a monograph, rather than that of a research paper or news article.
Contributions should aim to conform to a printed extent of 48 pp (including tables and illustrations), i.e. approximately 100 manuscript pages. If you feel that the subject requires a longer contribution, please discuss this with the Editor.
Manuscripts should include an appropriate list of references that will allow use as a resource for further study.
Submission of Manuscripts
Prospective authors are invited to submit an outline of their proposed contribution for consideration to:
Professor Xiaoming Tao, Editor-in-Chief, Textile Progress, Institute of Textiles and Clothing, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Email: tctaoxm@inet.polyu.edu.hk
Except under exceptional circumstances, text, tables and figures should be submitted electronically, along with hardcopy printouts for verification. Tables, figures and text should exist as separate files. Do not embed either tables or figures in the text. File names should be self-evident.
Files may be prepared using Microsoft Word or LaTeX.

The Textile Progress considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that they have been submitted only to the Textile Progress on this occasion and that they have not been published already, nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. Authors who fail to adhere to this condition will be charged with all costs which Textile Progress incurs and their papers will not be published.
Language of Publication
Manuscripts must be written in English. The manuscript will be published in that version of standard English presented by the Author.
Tables, figures, and equations are numbered sequentially, starting from 1, without regard to the topic and subhead numbering system. All numbering uses Arabic numerals.
Figures
Graphs and diagrams should be computer generated when possible and should be supplied in TIF or JPEG format at a resolution of 1200 dpi at their final size. Hard copy graphs and diagrams should be drawn in black ink on good quality paper or supplied as sharp glossy prints. If black-and-white halftones are to be included, the original photographs must be supplied with the manuscript. If originals are not available, electronic files should be supplied at a resolution of 300 dpi at their final size.
If figures are taken from previous publications it is the responsibility of the author to obtain the necessary written permission from the publisher concerned.
A list of captions for figures, including their attribution, if any, must be included. Label each figure on the back with the figure number and the name of the main authors. Illustrations will be reproduced in black and white.
Copyright
Contributions are accepted on the understanding that permission to reproduce copyrighted material has been requested from the author and the publisher. For details on obtaining copyright permission click here. Copies of the permission letters should be sent with the manuscript to the Editor.
Submission of a contribution for publication in Textile Progress is understood to imply that the article is original, unpublished and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Upon acceptance of an article for publication, authors will be asked to assign the copyright of the article to The Textile Institute.
It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to the Textile Institute. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors retain many rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies, which can be found at www.informaworld.com/authors_journals_copyright_position. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
